IMC to participate in World Forum 2007; Keynote speakers include Madeleine Albright, Elie Wiesel

January 02, 2007
International Medical Corps’ Senior Advisor for Global Strategy, Rabbi Lee Bycel, will join an impressive list of world leaders in San Francisco February 1-3 for the World Forum 2007. The three-day program features renowned leaders engaging in dialogue with experts in the areas of justice, religion, and conflict resolution.

Bycel will moderate a discussion with Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel about effective humanitarian interventions. They will be joined by 26-year-old Rwandan, Alice Musabende, the only member of her family to survive the genocide in Rwanda. Bycel has led several trips to Sudan and Chad, where he visited refugee communities in which International Medical Corps is providing critical emergency health services to conflict-affected families.

Other speakers at the Forum include former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and United Nations Special Advisor to the Secretary General Juan Mendez.

The Forum, which is being held at the Argent Hotel in downtown San Francisco, received the endorsement of Archbishop Desmond Tutu and seeks to facilitate learning groups. Music and art also will be woven into the Forum’s programs.

The general public is encouraged to attend but there is limited space. To register, please visit www.rockroseinstitute.org.
